Amanda Ali
Egyptian, born 1989, BA in English Translation from Cairo Uni. Self-taught artist and bassist with a DIY mindset and an experimental /metaphysical approach, she uses different mediums to explore and communicate what's beyond thought and emotion, thus founding "Subconscious Art" as a visual language and intellectual entity.
Her journey as a visual artist started out as a psychedelic mural painter for small businesses shortly after the revolution, then in 2019 she traveled to Asia for 5 years where she relied on visual art as a means to process and document her existential struggle of being away from home, where she was able to unlearn, relearn, and find her essence, developing her own unique style.
Group Exhibition “Gallery in the store”
Solo exhibition “ Stirred”
Stirred Statement:
Ready to take a deep dive into the unknown parts of your mind?
With mere lines, and the interplay between occupance and space, the eyes open to infinite possibilities, old memories and thoughts resurface, new dimensions emerge, nameless familiar feelings, something inside gets stirred...
Subconscious Art is a language that communicates with what's beyond thought, emotion, perception, being, identity, awareness, existence. It was developed by the artist through a journey of self-discovery while traveling abroad during the Covid lockdown period, which allowed her to grasp her essence stripped away from the accumulations of time and the environment that brought her up.
